The KIT and all its institutes executing research, teaching, and innovation are committed to a culture of diversity as mutual respect, recognition and appreciation, openness and transparency. Successful and sustainable realization of structural diversity is an inherent aim of their activities.
The concept of diversity is anchored within the structure of KIT at several occasions. This becomes apparent especially in the “KIT 2025” strategy, in the mission statement of KIT, in the auditing process as a family-friendly university, and its membership in the best-practice club “Familie in der Hochschule” (family at the university).
KIT's Diversity Management supports employees and students in an increasingly complex work, research and study environment to deal constructively with the wide variety of diverse life plans and social and cultural backgrounds and to integrate these profitably into daily working life. In order to fulfill its exemplary function as a public institution, KIT aims to create a barrier-free and non-discriminatory environment for working, teaching and learning in which respectful cooperation is possible.
Diversity Management serves as a central platform for those units at KIT that deal with the diversity of employees and students, support cross-functional exchange and initiate joint projects.
