YIN training program

Further training

KIT Human Resources Development offers YIN members an exclusive, comprehensive continuing education program. The aim of this training program is to support and qualify members, particularly in the areas of leadership, management and personal development.

The central role within the further training program is to determine the individual's current position, which is used to clarify their training needs. YIN members then put together their own individual training modules from the overall program. They are supported in their development process by individual training advice.

The YIN assessment is a central element of the YIN training.

It is a process moderated by PEBA, which is carried out in small groups of 4-5 participants and lasts one day (9-17 h) with a full number of participants.

The assessment is offered in German and English.

Procedure
  1. In the first step, the participants are led to reflect on their career and their current situation.
  2. In a further step, each participant formulates an individual and current concern, which he or she presents as part of a peer counseling process.
  3. He or she receives feedback on this from the group, which he or she can incorporate into his or her deliberations.
Aim

This process leads to greater clarity in one's own concerns and expands the wealth of experience based on the topics brought in by the other participants.

Benefit

This method benefits above all from the closed group of a network in which, on the one hand, individuals have similar problems and, on the other hand, there is a high level of familiarity and openness, which is reflected in the quality of the advice and results.

Professional advice and support

Coaching is professional advice, guidance and support for people with management or leadership tasks. It is an individual advisory process. The objective of coaching is the further development of individual learning and performance processes. The focus is primarily on professional issues arising from the task at hand and the various professional roles.
The coach enables the causes of problems to be identified and helps to develop solutions.

Time-limited and confidential

Coaching is a time-limited process. Depending on the problem, 3 to 10 meetings are required to work through a set of issues. The content of a coaching session is absolutely confidential.

Coaching pool

The needs of a YIN member are identified through a further training consultation and a coach and coachee are brought together to find the perfect match. For this purpose, YIN members have access to a broad pool of coaches with different subject areas and professional profiles.

The YIN members clarify their individual training and support needs on the basis of the assessment. Based on these needs, a training program tailored to the target group is designed and implemented. The topics for the series of workshops are determined each year after the assessment. One event takes place every month.

Learning from others through experience

Mentoring is a method of promoting the transfer of knowledge between experienced and less experienced people, both in terms of specialist knowledge and experience.
It involves the targeted advancement of a mentee (protégé), i.e. a person who has a high potential for development and is highly committed to their work. The mentor takes on the role of an advisor who uses his or her experience and knowledge to promote the mentee's development.

Knowledge transfer

Mentoring aims to ensure that the mentee is supported by the mentor in professional situations so that he or she can progress in his or her career. The mentoring training line promotes the transfer of knowledge between a very experienced colleague and a YIN member as a junior manager at KIT.

Mentoring program

Mentor and mentee meet two to three times a year for a confidential discussion. Further meetings or contacts can serve to introduce the mentee to specialist circles and important networks.

The tandems come together on their own initiative and are supported in their process by PEBA.

Consultants and speakers

The consultants involved in the YIN further education program have been specially selected by HR Development for this target group and are considered experts in their respective subject areas throughout Germany. All of them have a wealth of experience in the field of higher education and research. They support the young managers in their challenging tasks with great commitment and enthusiasm.
Due to the small group size in the training courses, the participants work directly on the issues and challenges of everyday life. Theory is combined with practical exercises in order to achieve a high level of transfer.
