In order to provide even better support for all our employees and students in reconciling work or studies and family, the FlexiKids program was designed to support parents with emergency care to bridge the gaps in the childcare.
The emergency care takes place in our daycare center KinderUniversum in Karl-Wilhelm-Str. 1, 76131 Karlsruhe. There are a total of 5 emergency care places available for children from 6 months to 12 years, which can usually be used for a maximum of 3 days in a row.
For emergency care, please bring along: A change of clothes, your child's favorite toy and possibly diapers/baby food.
When can FlexiKids be used?
FlexiKids can be used by our employees, doctoral candidates, and students of KIT in case of
- emergency situations at the jon,
- gaps in regular childcare,
- short-term business trips,
- events at KIT.
Emergency care is not a substitute for daycare during vacations. For this purpose, KIT offers schoolchild care care during all school vacations.
FlexiKids for events
KIT institutions (such as scientific institutes, DE's, KIT faculties) have the possibility to book childcare for KIT events at PEBA. Also external persons connected with KIT, e.g. visiting professors, seminar and event participants can book this service. For this purpose, please send the order to Ms. Knopf at least 4 weeks before the event. In addition, the user registration must be sent along for each child. An organization fee is charged for the organization of childcare.
Costs
You can pay the flat rates for using Flexikids directly to our daycare provider, educcare gGmbH.

Registration
Registration for emergency care is binding. Appropriate registration forms can be found under 'downloads'. Students should also have the enclosure signed by a teacher. If more than 5 registrations are received for one day, the order of receipt will count.
The registration form for KIT organizational units for booking childcare at events can also be found under 'downloads'. External persons please use this form. Registration for events must be submitted 4 weeks prior to the event.
Registration for users (employees and students) must be received by PEBA, Ms. Knopf, by 10:00 a.m. the day before. In very urgent cases on the same day, please contact the KinderUniversum directly, Tel. 0721 96142466.
