Performance-Based Pay (LoB)

Performance-related pay (LoB) applies to employees with a TVöD employment contract. The current works agreement defines the framework for LoB as follows:

  • The LoB budget is divided into basic performance pay (95%) and additional performance pay (5%). The additional performance pay is awarded to a maximum of 15% of employee:
  • Employees are categorized according to performance:
    • High performers receive 100% of the basic performance pay 
    • Otstanding performers receive 100% of the basic performance pay plus additional performance pay.
    • Significantly below-average performers receive 50% of the basic performance pay.
  • Performance assessment is based on the following criteria: quality of work, work commitment, cooperation, professional flexibility, and leadership behavior.

 

Documents

The documents are available on the German Website. Justifications for outstanding or significantly below‑average performances are also accepted in English.

Institutional Committee

The Institutional Committee is composed of an equal number of representatives from the employer and the staff council. It is available to address complaints regarding deficiencies in the system or its implementation.
