76 young people began their apprenticeships on September 1
On September 1, 2026, 76 apprentices embarked on their careers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in industrial-technical, scientific, and commercial fields. An additional 29 students in dual study programs will join them on October 1.
The new apprentices got to know KIT and the campus over the course of four introductory days. The varied program ranged from initial information about their specific apprenticeship roles to presentations on topics such as occupational safety, diversity, further education, and payroll accounting. The newcomers were also introduced to participatory initiatives, including the KIT apprenticeship program's Instagram and TikTok teams. Two campus rallies (covering the North and South campuses), team exercises, and sports activities provided ample opportunity for interaction and getting to know one another. A joint team event rounded off the week. In-depth conversations with apprentices from more advanced years also helped ensure a smooth transition into the new environment.
The introductory days were organized and managed by Bettina Auer from the Human Resources Development and Vocational Training (PEBA) department. She received active support in the organization and execution of the event from a dedicated project group composed of apprentices from more advanced years of training.
