FAQ

The whole certificate is too extensive for me. Can I also just take individual courses or complete individual modules?
Yes, that is possible. You can take individual courses in higher education didactics as well as complete individual modules. Please note that some of our courses in Module II require the participation in ‘Fit for Teaching 1+2’ from Module I. These courses contain a corresponding note in the course description.
How much time do I have to plan to complete the certificate?
The entire certificate comprises at least 200 working units. One unit is equivalent to 45 minutes. Thus, you should plan on approximately 150 hours of work for the certificate. The majority of our graduates need about 2-3 years to complete the entire certificate process. Longer completion times are also common.
How do I receive my module certificates?
You can request your module certificates informally by sending an email to hdz∂peba.kit.edu. Please send the following documents (scans) in the attachment according to the requested module:

Module I:

  • Certificates of attendance
    • Fit for teaching 1+2
    • Practical consultations (min. 2)
    • Proof of observation
  • Module I-Reflection

Modul II: All certificates of attendance for completed courses.

Modul III:

  • Individual focus (Module III Work)
  • Final reflection
How do I conduct the peer observation?
You conduct the collegial observation independently with a colleague, e.g. from the course "Fit for Teaching". You visit each other in one of your courses, observe each other and give each other feedback afterwards. Helpful materials for preparing and conducting the observation can be found in our download area. Afterwards, please report the implementation of the peer observation to your university didactics office. An informal e-mail to hdz∂peba.kit.edu with the corresponding registration form is sufficient for this purpose.
Is it also possible to be observed by experts from the field of higher education didactics?
Yes, in principle, it is possible to be observed by experts from university didactics. For this purpose, please contact university didactics office.
How do I find my partner for the peer observation?
